Get More Productive With Windows Search Companion
Friday, 22 January 2010 | Jason SlaterSometimes, in Windows XP, we work with custom file extensions because it’s handy to work that way. An example of this would be text based Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) files which we store locally and suffix with a .edi extension.

We might want to search the contents of these files using the Windows Search Companion at a later date however using a custom file extension can confuse the Search Companion as it won’t know to include these types of files in the results. Fortunately, we can fix this.
