The wireless access point has been giving us trouble for some time dropping connections after a few seconds and refusing to connect regularly. Fortunately NetStumbler came in handy to show that the auto-assigned channel was generating way too much noise leading to a poor signal to noise ratio. Manually changing the access points to another channel gave a much clearer signal.
Netstumbler is a useful little utility that describes itself as “NetStumbler (also known as Network Stumbler) is a tool for Windows that facilitates detection of Wireless LANs using the 802.11b, 802.11a and 802.11g WLAN standards.” You can obtain more information regarding this utility from their website: NetStumbler.com
