Here comes the Cloudbook - is this the dawn of the low cost UMPC?

Submitted by jasonslater on Thursday, 10 January 2008No Comment

Hot on the heels of my earlier post regarding the ASUS eee PC (Why the Asus eee PC will succeed) it does indeed seem that other suppliers are getting in on the act. Engadget have confirmed that the Cloudbook is being made available at the end of January 2008 (at least in the USA) in their article Everex’s Cloudbook coming to Wal-Mart by month’s end. This machine is another Linux variant (gOS) low cost ultra-mobile PC (UMPC) with a similar display of 800×480 but with a 30GB hard drive instead of the ASUS eee flash drive. UMPC Portal also covered this in their article here. You can read more about the Everex version on their website: Everex.
