Trialling the Nokia E61i
The Nokia E61i arrived around lunch time and I’ve been configuring (read playing with) it for the last few hours. It took a while to setup the email function (POP account); it required some changes on the servers this end to get it to work. But it’s working now. The wireless feature is a handy little number thought it took a while to find the MAC address.
Some handy codes for the Nokia are:
*#62209526# to find out the MAC address of the device
*#06# to find the IMEI
*#2820# to find out the Bluetooth address
And to perform a full reset (just in case it all goes pear shaped) type *#7370#
The device feels very light and fits in my big hands comfortably and the camera is clear and seems to work well. The interface isn’t as fast as I’d like it to be but it does the job. It’s also curious that the email function doesn’t seem to work over a wireless connection. Flash Lite is pre-installed, so too is Acrobat Reader and Java MIDP 2.0.
The real test will be from next week of course when the device goes to the field based user.
