The Samsung GALAXY Note, GT-N7000, recently received an over the air software update to Android 2.3.6. Kies users should see the update as PDA:LA6 / PHONE:LA4 / CSC:LA1 (XEU) and of course you should ensure you backup your device data before applying any upgrades.

This may not be the Ice Cream Sandwich update some of us have been anticipating but it is a step nearer particularly as there is only one firmware update left in the v2.3.x Gingerbread series and, hopefully, owners of the Note can hop and skip right over Honeycomb.

The available screen real estate, thanks to the 5.3” 1280×800 screen, is enough to warrant a look and is currently the only device I have found to be a real challenger to my trusty iPhone 4S.
