Epson Aim To Change Business Printing With New WorkForce Pro Range
In this sponsored article we’ll be taking a quick look at how Epson are aiming to change business printing with the new Epson WorkForce Pro Series which, as Epson says, is “engineered for business”.
In my experience of managing enterprise IT inkjet printing has often been considered as a “nice to have” feature rather than be justified with any sort of real business merit and so has often been consigned to just a very small part of the overall infrastructure in favour of mono laser printers. However, with the new Workforce Pro series Epson, whose inkjet printers have previously found favour in the consumer area, do appear to have business printing firmly on their agenda as they have set about building a range of devices that, as they say, offer “up to 50% lower cost per page and faster printings for those small print jobs”.
A big topic in the minds of everyone these days, but particularly on the IT strategy plans of business CIO, is energy consumption and this is where Epson are placing some emphasis with this new range suggesting figures of up to “80% lower energy consumption than competitive colour lasers when compared with the top ten laser printers”. It is certainly an interesting proposition and one that could raise an eyebrow or two during a technology refresh cycle particularly as several printers in the range have already received awards from respected publications including “IT Pro Recommended” and “Computer Shopper Business Buy” awards.
A particularly interesting model, which should appeal to a small enterprise for example, would be the WP-4525 DNF (see image) which is a 4-in-1 multifunction device which includes fax with up to 200×200 resolution (and up to 60 names and numbers), copy, inkjet printing with resolutions up to 4800 x 12800 DPI, scanning at up to 1.4msec per line, whilst also offering duplex, USB, and networking support.
