Whilst working on a PowerPoint 2010 presentation I broke up the slide set up into a few files to make them easier to work (and shorter to send). However, I soon discovered that, now, each set starts at slide number 1 and I wondered if there was a setting to allow a starting number to be specified for slides.

Fortunately, after a short session of digging around in PowerPoint, the required setting was located under Page Setup. Head into the Ribbon Bar, select Design, then Page Setup from where you can specify the slide number to start from in the section “Number slides from:”.
