The Apple iPad 2 comes shipped with a Dock Connecter/USB cable and 10W USB Power Adaptor for charging but you may be tempted to try and charge the iPad 2 using a spare USB port on your computer – after all it makes sense especially if you want to charge the device after syncing.

However, when doing this, particularly when using a non-Apple based PC or laptop, you might have encountered a message on the iPad 2 top status bar which reads “Not Charging” – so why does it say this?
