UVA Mobiltec have announced their Mobile Community Framework which allows developers of applications for mobile devices to community enable their projects using a cross platform SDK – supported platforms include iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian, and Blackberry. By providing a framework which is cross platform UVA Mobiltec have addressed many of the problems facing developers today – with so many different platforms available. Users benefit too as they don’t have to make sure they are running the same operating system as their friends.

One of the stand out features of the development platform is that the framework includes proximity awareness so not only can applications be enabled with social community functionality but they mobile devices can also indicate if friends are physically nearby and vice versa – subject to controls which can be customised.

Additionally, the framework is opportunistic – so it looks out for the best connection to get the data across, including Wi-Fi connections.
