cPanel is a popular website configuration and management application – often provided as an optional part of hosting packages.
One feature you might want to visit early on in your cPanel experience is the area which allows you to switch off public browsing of your website folders – in this article we will see how to do this.
Under the Advanced settings in cPanel there is the “Index Manager” which handles how web directories and folders are viewed on the web. The Index Manager has a number of options including filename only, “Standard” indexing, filename and description “Fancy” indexing, no indexing and the use the system default.
To prevent people from browsing your web folders (and instead stick to the website navigation as intended), you need to head into the Advanced tab, then Index Manager, locate the folder you want to and select the “No Indexing option” then select Save.
The change should take affect almost instantly.
