ICT Publish, a Norway based digital publishing company, have set themselves a task for 2010 – to produce their online student learning courses in both Norwegian and English – for free.

So far, ICT Publish have created a number of short (around 3 minutes per video) training videos for well known  packages including Microsoft Excel 2007 (currently 6 videos), OpenOffice.org Calc (currently 7 videos), and online image manipulation software Pixlr (currently 32 videos) with many more planned in the near future.

The aim of their project is to ensure that school pupils really are in an active learning mode when sitting in front of the computer and not simply in "interactive mode” when faced with say, a spreadsheet application. As they say of their latest project “We have developed a completely new way in how to use spreadsheets in either Excel or in OpenOffice.org Calc – in the classroom, both teachers and pupils, from 1st to 4th grade.
