Locating Windows 7 Local Settings Folder

In Windows XP the local settings folder was usually located under \Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings (assuming you have shown hidden files checked) so you might expect the Windows 7 location to be \Users\username\Local Settings – however this is now a shortcut and clicking on the shortcut brings up an error “Location is not available”.

The actual location for the equivalent local settings folder is now \Users\username\AppData\Local
