Get The Latest Microsoft Technology Insights In Widget Form

Today, I heard about a new, handy, multimedia widget from Microsoft UK, which brings together technology videos, blog posts and latest news about a range of Microsoft technologies from Azure to Windows 7. The widget is easily embedded in a web page, as shown below, and presents latest articles and how-to’s on current technology topics. A recent piece of news I picked up from the widget is that Silverlight 4 beta has been released, unveiled at the recent PDC 2009, – the link is included in the widget.

The widget brings together fast access to expert tips and time savers from leading Microsoft sources including msdn, TechNet and /web with media ranging from video and blogs to news links. One example I found really interesting was the Web App Toolkit for IE8, covered on the widget, this took me to Mike Ormond’s Blog which shows how to create accelerators, search providers and web slides for Internet Explorer 8. Getting Started with SQL Azure is covered in a video in the msdn section, hosted by David Gristwood and Keith Burns. Another video, with David Gristwood and David Chappell covers the Windows Azure platform which is Microsoft’s entry into the cloud platform arena.

Videos can be viewed in full screen and new videos can be accessed by hovering close to the top of the current video, and appear in a scrollable display. The widget makes for easy sharing on popular social networking services including delicious, Digg, Reddit, Twitter, Technorati, Google Bookmarks and traditional email.
