White Paper: Security Considerations For Small and Medium Business
Thursday, 28 May 2009
The question of “Am I secure?” is an often asked one and unfortunately the answer may continue to elude for some time to come. End user education plays an important part as well as an ever increasing array of tools and utilities but security is an ever changing threat landscape.
To help address this problem, GFI, the developers of a range of products including network security, content security and messaging, have released a new whitepaper, authored by MVP Brad Dinerman. The white paper entitled “Security Considerations for Small- and Medium-Sized Businesses (SMBs)“, explores some of the areas small and medium businesses can address to help secure their organisation. The cost of security is one particular area of concern as GFI highlight:
It is a safe to assume that the single-most important factor that affects a small business’ decisions is budget. SMB owners do not usually have tens of thousands of dollars to spend on IT infrastructure. Instead, they look at their checkbook as they hand over their hard-earned dollars to purchase devices such as firewalls to protect their internal network.
This short, 5 page, white paper is worth a look if you, like many others, have concerns about security in your small or medium sized business. You can access the white paper at the GFI website at http://www.gfi.com/whitepapers/security-considerations-for-smbs.pdf (Registration is not required).
