Get The Grass Cut With The Help Of A LawnBott

We have had a number of fine days so far this year and fingers are crossed for the bank holiday weekend. Time then to start mowing the lawn in earnest, but should we do it ourselves or let the mower take care of it for us?

When it comes to washing the dishes we can use a dish washer, if we need to go somewhere we can rely on satellite navigation (most of the time) to guide us, so why not rely on an automated mower for helping cut the grass?

Automated lawn mowers typically use a perimeter wire to allow the device to understand the terrain. However, it may seem technology is yet moving on again with the limited release LawnBott LB1200 Spyder, 1st prize winner at GAFA for 2008 Most Innovative Product. The Spyder utilises sensors to understand the terrain around it, you should be able to pretty much put it on the grass, switch it on and let it do its magic.

LawnBott Spyder

LawnBott is described as:

Completely automated, gas-free, and zero-emission LawnBott robotic mowers use a flat blade to mulch grass as it cuts it. With zero carbon-emissions, LawnBott is a green alternative to conventional gas-powered lawn mowers.

Not only that but LawnBott can be programmed for up to three different areas  and can trim grass for 3-4 hours on just a single charge – when it is does or when it needs to recharge it automatically returns to its base station to recharge. You can program LawnBott to cut on a weekly schedule, daily, or as often as you see fit.  I would love to see how it deals with a number of different zones and whether it automatically goes to those zones – or if you have to take it.

Could LawnBott hold the answer?

A new feature of recent LawnBott models is the electronic inclinometer which can automatically switch of the cutting blade when a 30 degree incline is detected.

Other new features include:

  • Additional blade guard protects it from possible obstacles in the yard.
  • Blade modulation feature determines resistance to conserve battery power.
