Upgrade NiceLabel 5.1 and 5.2 Before 8th April 2009

Euro Plus, the developers of the NiceLabel labelling package, are urging all users of version 5.1 and version 5.2 of the NiceLabel range of products to upgrade to the latest build version of 5.2 or apply a patch – this should be done prior to 8th April 2009 as the current software will fail to run after that date.

As they explain on their website:

“NiceLabel products include protection, which assures that their components are authentic. As of version 5.1, we included a digital signature to all executable modules and NiceLabel is verifying the validity of the digital signature.

Because the digital signature used to sign NiceLabel executable files expires on April 8th, 2009, this check will fail after this date – resulting in NiceLabel software NOT running after April 8th.”

The two options available are:

  • Update to the latest build of version 5.2 which should eliminate the problem
  • Patch the current version which will allow the program to run until April 6th, 2012

Attempting to run the existing program after that date should result in an error alert indicating a modified DLL, the only option will be to close the application.

Installation instructions for the patch can be found at http://www.nicelabel.com/resources/files/doc/downloads/NiceLabel_Patch_Installation.pdf

If you are running this version of the software you should contact your supplier or visit the NiceLabel website at http://www.nicelabel.com/Downloads/NiceLabel-Upgrades for more information.

* NiceLabel describes a set of professional labelling software which incorporates the production of bar code and RFID label design and printing solutions. Versions of NiceLabel include Standard series (including the NiceLabel design application), Enterprise Series (including Print Center, NiceWatch Enterprise and HL7 versions) and Developer Series (including various SDK including a PocketSDK). A set of printer drivers are also available for download to support the applications.

I just wanted to say thank you! I ran into this problem on a client’s network today who apparently ignored the e-mails from EuroPlus. Needless to say you lead me to a very quick resolution. Thanks for the post!

    • Thanks for the note Mike, I imagine this is going to catch quite a few people out today.
