Dipclip, The Social Experiment

It was whilst Twittering that I came across the DipClip project, which started on February 14, 2009, with the aim of serving one trillion banner ads. Every now and then a scheme like this captures the imagination and it is with this in mind I present this guest post from DipClip to tell us a little more about their project.

Dipclip, The Rubix Cube Of Chaos.

Have you ever thought of what a Trillion (50×50) self-advertisements would look like? Better yet, how long would it take to serve all those adverts? Try envisioning 1,000,000 sites each with 1,000,000 impressions, totalling 1,000,000,000,000 served across a 10×10 checkerboard, 100 at a time.

In a few simple and easy steps, you can enter your site into the dipclip.com social experiment!

How it works:

  • Submit your site URL to http://dipclip.com/blog/get-your-spot/.
  • Include a URL to a 50×50 image of your choice.
  • Brief write up of your site.

It is that easy.

Your site is then submitted into the dipclip rotation. Each impression and click is logged. After all One Trillion Adverts are served, the site with the most clicks wins!

What do I win? That is the beauty of it. This is a social experiment, so we cannot really disclose that information. It may be $$$, recognition, bragging rights, anything or nothing. It is a chance to prove to yourself and others how popular you really are or not.

Check it out, try it for yourself, it is completely free, no gimmicks – let us serve up One Trillion Self Promoted Ads on a Social Experiment like no other!
