Free Online: The Hitchhikers’s Guide to the Galaxy – 20th Anniversary Edition
Words that still have useful meaning today!
Something very special, and based on one of my favourite authors, is the BBC 20th Anniversary Edition of the classic adventure game The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
If you have never played a text based adventure game before, you type in short phrases for example "open eyes" or "stick fish in ear" to progress through the game and you will either move on successfully or more likely insult some alien race as your words echo throughout the galaxy. Various clues may be offered but most of the time you have to figure out the right thing to type in to move on – it helps to be somewhat familiar with the general storyline of the book – but don’t rely on it entirely – oh and good luck trying to get the babel fish out of the vending machine!
