Moving files around file servers is a regularly performed task and I doubt very few people really want to sit and watch the whole thing being carried out. Quite often I will line up a move of several thousand files and leave it to do its thing whilst I go off and do my thing. When I come back the move is usually paused and I am met with a message similar to:
This particular message occurs because Thumbs.db (a cached thumbnail image file) is flagged by the system as a Hidden file. It is possible to override the prompting using a command line utility such as xcopy but this message gets frustrating after a while especially as Windows just loves popping Thumbs.db all over the place.
Fortunately the particular annoyance with Thumbs.db can be gotten around by disabling the caching of thumbnails. You can switch the caching of thumbnails off by going into Tools -> Folder Options -> View then Click in the checkbox next to “Do not cache thumbnails”.
Ensuring you then delete the previously created Thumbs.db files it will not be recreated.

Or you could finally upgrade to Vista - which asks all the questions BEFORE it starts moving files.
