A year ago on jasonslater.co.uk

Submitted by jasonslater on March 27, 2008 – No Comment

Some of the things we were writing about this time last year on jasonslater.co.uk:

  • bye bye Vista – or rather Adieu
I was having a few problems installing Vista on my work laptop and it ended in tears. A year later and I am still running XP – Vista is still tucked away in the draw. Mind you, I have been thinking about digging it out and giving it another go.
  • Roaming Profiles
Whilst at University I noticed a small icon in the task bar that informed me about my profile size. Since that time we have implemented the profile size monitor on all our thin client servers and profiles are well under control.
  • Virtual Server
I was experimenting with Virtual Server and getting my head around the idea of virtual servers. Today, we have decommissioned a number of physical servers and are rapidly moving to a virtual environment.
  • Non-working DC
Having a non working domain controller is not a happy place to be especially when it was working fine prior to a patch. Fortunately this particular problem ended up being quite easy to fix – it still had us pulling our hair out though.
