VXL thin clientAccording to an article in Techworld “Thin clients break the £100 barrier” and an article in IT Week “£100 thin client launched” VXL Instruments have launched a sub 100 GBP thin client terminal with the Itona TC23xx range – reports are that this is a diskless device and doesn’t use a fan so should be pretty quiet during operation.

The only TC23xx I could find on the VXL site at the current time is the TC2311-LI and there doesn’t seem to be any current official press releases on the product range. VXL currently describe the TC2331-LI as “…powered by the Gio Linux Embedded operating system. The Itona TC2331-LI boasts a rich application that includes X-Windows Server, ICA, RDP and UNIX connectivity clients. This enables swift connection to UNIX and IBM mainframes as well as Microsoft servers.

We used VXL thin clients many years ago when the company was in its early days and always found the products reliable and the customer service speedy. Wyse are our current preferred thin client terminal but it’s great to see VXL being talked about in the industry press and I may get hold of one of these units to give it a run. If you have ever considered thin clients check out my earlier post Five Advantages of Thin Clients.
