In a recent announcement by Apple titled “Apple Announces iPhone 2.0 Software Beta” Apple have indicated that version 2 of the iPhone Software version will support Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
In the announcement Apple say they have licensed Exchange ActiveSync from Microsoft and will support connections to Exchange 2003 and 2007 “out-of-the-box” . This announcement together with the news of the addition Cisco IPSec VPN certainly makes the iPhone a little more palatable in a business environment. Pull e-mail is rapidly becoming yesterdays news in a world where we expect information to arrive quickly and not at polled intervals.
