Microsoft Office Live Workspace BETA

March 6th, 2008 · No Comments

It would seem that Microsoft is shifting up a gear and are busy bees at the moment with numerous launches and announcements. Microsoft Office Live Workspace BETA has recently been announced and is currently available for free sign-up.

I have signed up for an account and it appears to be a custom Sharepoint installation designed for storing and sharing files online. A downloadable plug-in for Office extends its use into Microsoft Office (it adds a new network place for opening and saving files via the online site).

Microsoft describe it as

Save 1000+ Microsoft Office documents in one place

Share files—you control who can view and edit

Works with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

As well as storing Word, Excel and PowerPoint files you can also add Notes and Lists (Task List, Contact List, Event List or Custom Lists).

The site can be accessed via http://www.officelive.com/ or directly at http://workspace.officelive.com
