Can Android be the mobile answer?

Submitted by jasonslater on Tuesday, 13 November 2007No Comment

Android EmulatorWhat a surprise when I read recently about Google’s up and coming Android platform. Essentially this is being described as an open mobile development platform that provides standard function calls to mobile devices. With there being so many different variants of mobile platform this could prove to be a great solution. The $10m prize money that’s up for grabs doesn’t go unnoticed either - not that I would even begin to dream that any of it might end up in my pocket.

Why am I surprised? Because my final year Masters project at Uni is all about finding standard solutions for mobile application development. Up until now I have been looking at the Java MIDP and Flash Lite route. Android potentially gives me a third option.
