Low Carb Day 26
Actually it’s not so much about being low-carb at the moment as the inability to really eat anything following the operation. I got weighed in on Monday 29th October (Day 23) and had lost 4 lb bringing my weight down to 23st 5lbs. Being in hospital really brought the reality of needing to lose weight home to me; I had to have all the pre-op work done whilst I was awake which was one of the worst things ever, my blog post about that is here. If I hadn’t of been so overweight I could have been put straight under and that would have saved me awful lot of memories that I could really do without.
I did manage to eat a one-egg omelette yesterday that Sharon made for me. The problem is that since the operation everything just tastes way too salty, even sweet foods like custard are too salty. I even had salt-free food in hospital and couldn’t eat it because it tasted so salty it nearly burned. Strange?

Have you found that the problem with salt is getting better. I had surgery three weeks ago and I still have the problem and am a bit freaked out by it.
Elisabeth - thanks for your comment. I still have the salty taste but I’ve recently found that strong tastes are starting to come back. Sweet Pickle for instance I can just about get the taste of but you are absolutely right - the lack of taste is very strange and freaked me out a bit too.
