Technology Blog of the Week, 12th Oct 2007: Deb-Tech
Todays Technology Blog of the week is Deb-Tech, Deb Shinder’s Technology & Security Blog located at http://deb-tech.spaces.live.com/default.aspx.
Deb-Tech describes itself as “This blog is a place for readers of my books, print and online articles and WXPnews newsletter to come for more tech-related info, and a place where I can expand on the ideas expressed in those other formats and answer questions posed by readers.”
The first thing that struck me on this Blog was how clearly laid out it is. The RSS subscribe icon stands out clearly and a section follows explaining the purpose of the Blog and the rate at which Debra aims to update the Blog. The last post was 9th October and previous posts on the 7th, 6th and 1st show that the Blog is regularly updated. The archives also show the oldest post to be 2 September 2006 with a short article on the old Windows (Vista in this case) vs Mac debate.
The articles are all fairly short and punchy with a reasonable number of links and presently a leaning towards Vista. Her article on Size isn’t everything: tips on buying a monitor was particularly insightful - I hadn’t previously given much thought about the difference in PPI on Monitors and Notebooks and the considerations associated with them. I also liked her article on E-mail cop-out? with sentiments that I too echo.
On the whole I had an interesting and insightful experience at Deb-Tech and I’ve subscribed to her RSS feed as a result.

Nice Blog also…you’ve picked two winners so far. Keep’em coming…
My first impression was that it was a message board, but quickly came to appreciate the simplicity of the layout (as you discussed above) and the detailed niche content. I wouldn’t visit it everyday, but definitely would check back every couple of weeks to see the updates.
