Low Carb Day 5

Submitted by jasonslater on Thursday, 11 October 2007No Comment

Here we go again - low-carb adventures take ‘n’, the great thing this time however is that my mindset is in the right place. I’ve made it to Day 5 on my latest low-carb adventure and already I’m feeling the benefits. More energy, improved concentration, less lethargy and I’m also feeling somewhat more creative. Last night I drafted six new Monk and his IT Junk comic strips after a week of having little creative inspiration. One or two of them even got a belly laugh from Sharon!

I am hoping for a reasonable weight loss later today and I feel quite confident that I can get through to next week on the low-carb regime. We had a drive out yesterday and stopped by at a farm shop called Sandiacre. They had a room at the end of the store just brimming with freshly cooked cakes and pastries and the smell was to die for. I was even offered a free sample of a freshly baked almond croissant but I gritted my teeth and politely refused. I was also tempted with a McDonalds breakfast this morning (I just love McDonalds Latte) but I was strong and avoided the place.

The funny thing I have found with sugar is that when I don’t have it for a couple of days then I don’t crave it nor do I really want it but the moment I have a treat or allow myself to eat something sugary then I have a tendency to crave for more. It’s a very strange experience and even though I know that I feel much healthier, less tired and and have an overall feeling of well-being without sugar I still know that at some point I am going to revert back to the almost zombie state of eating sugar heavily on a daily basis. Why do we do this to ourselves? Or is it just me I wonder?
