You just can’t make this stuff up
I dragged my sick self out of bed last night to attend my first week of Uni … if you know where this is going bear with me … the pay off is worth it.
Anyway, my tonsilitis had been playing up for a day or two which is how I ended up in bed at this point. I’d previously found out that Week 1 of my Uni Semester was going to be Thursday 27th September between 6pm and 8pm. This meant I had to drag myself out of bed for around 4:30pm, take a shower and head off to Uni (25 miles away) to get there for around 5:15pm. No problem.
Well, first and foremost I got out of bed at 4:45pm and by the time I got showered and ready it was more like 5:10pm. I headed downstairs and it dawned on me that I didn’t know what building and room the session would be held in. I fired up the computer and spent around 20 minutes trying to find out on the Uni website. Then the kids came in and were hell bent on playing with the mouse and bashing the keyboard - great! By now it was 5:30pm and I was to say … slightly getting my hair off. I called Sharon and she took the kids away and I emailed the lecturer (and got no response) but by the time I found the information hidden away on a downloadable PDF it was 5:50pm. Time was getting tight.
Anyway by the time I headed off after hugging the kids and explaining for the nth time to Jessie why she couldn’t come with me it was getting on for 6pm. I resisted the temptation to drive speedily and got into Wolverhampton at 6:20pm when this happened:
An Accident happened closing both lanes for 15 minutes whilst an ambulance and police car turned up. By this time my fingers were tapping on the dash. By the time it cleared it took a few more minutes to get to the car park where I realised I had to pay £2 to park and I’d forgot to bring enough money. Fortunately I managed to scrat around the car and got it together but the guy in the booth insisted on counting it … very slowly.
Finally Parked, it was 6:40pm and I dashed to Uni hoping to come up with a feasible excuse as to why I’d missed most of the session. The room was on the top floor - eek. The lift seemed to take forever and I admit I was pretty much running down the hall to the room. Imagine my surprise when I saw this:
Needless to say it took a short while for my sense of humour to kick in.

In the middle of town I have to fire up the laptop to consult my emails!
