Backup connections continued

September 10th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Further to my recent post “Backup Connections: Is more ever enough? when I left that post I was waiting for BT to arrive on site to investigate the problem. As it turns out I received a call around 5:30pm from BT instead telling me they were about to check the line when, and these are the engineers words “it miraculously came back on” - maybe someone above is watching down on me? Looking on the positive side at least the backup connection is now working but it does beg the question - what is the point of a backup circuit when it doesn’t work when you need it. Also, was it just a co-incidence that the backup circuit went down at the same time as the primary circuit? They are different providers and one would assume take diverse routes? Questions Questions when I need Answers Answers.
This week I plan to provision an ADSL backup circuit so at least we have some kind of Internet connection when all else fails.

Jason, we use Zen Internet (Business) for our internet connectivity. Not sure on the finer details, but my boss says that they have their own circuitry, i.e. not BT system like many of the other ADSL services. Which will make sense if you already internet connectivity already provided by BT.
