3Com NBX Upgrade

Submitted by jasonslater on Monday, 30 July 2007One Comment

Following on from my recent post (3Com NBX Upgrade blues) regarding the 3Com NBX 100, I’m happy to report that we’ve finally reached and taken the massive step to firmware version v6_0_44 from v4_2_9 and the improvements are very much worth the effort.

Whilst there are a whole host of improvements and enhancements in the newer verions, some of the cool features of the new version that I particularly like are:

  • Call-timer - something that we’ve been hoping for - for sometime. Now I can actually tell how long those telephone surveys are lasting!
  • New Interface - the interface is more modern, cleaner and more intuitive
  • Syslog - events and errors can now be fed out to a syslogger giving far more operational information than we’ve had before.
  • Camp On - allowing the system to monitor a busy phone and call me back when its free - saves a lot of time
