Remote Access Support

Submitted by jasonslater on April 16, 2007 – No Comment

I was called earlier by a user in an associated companies site, in Dallas, as they were having problems printing to a label printer from their computer. This is quite outside my remit however I’m happy to lend a hand so off I set. Logmein Rescue to the rescue once again. The user logged in and within about a minute I could see that someone had been ‘fiddling’ with the machine and captured the LPT1 port (which the label printer was attached to) and redirected it to another printer (non-existent physical printer).

This problem was fixed in about a minute whereas without the remote control software I would probably still be talking the user through various things trying to identify the problem.
