Electronic Calendar

Submitted by jasonslater on Friday, 30 March 2007No Comment

I have a calendar on my desk. A flip calendar. A paper-based flip calendar. It was sent to me by those nice people at SCC and I use it regularly. I have my holidays and business trips marked on the various pages and I was wondering this morning why I don’t use the nice calendar built into outlook or the online calendar on one of my various accounts such as AOL, Google, Hotmail, and BT Yahoo. It seems odd that I have to sit at my desk to check my calendar. I have to pick it up and flick through the pages - and yet it feels comfortable to use.

As my laptop is dead and I’m borrowing an older laptop I can’t get into Outlook 2007 as the PST format is different. I guess I could have stored my calendar on the Exchange Server itself but for some reason I didn’t. Plus, I can’t get at that all the time especially when I’m off site.

I suppose I should be thinking paperless. Be pro-active. I’m making a lot of use of Google at the moment and it has an electronic calendar. I’ve configured it up, together with its cool SMS reminder service, and I’ll give it a go. Watch this space for progress updates.
